Makani was highlighted at the recent International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Press Preview, where the company’s product won a prestigious honour in the CES 2008 Innovations Design and Engineering Awards. The product that helped Makani clinch this prestigious award is none other than its all-time favorite, Zonk™. Zonk™ was awarded an innovation honour under the Best of Innovations category.
Products entered in this prestigious program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and members of the trade press to honour outstanding design and engineering in cutting edge consumer electronics products.
Makani’s “movie-sunglasses” is not only known for its adjustable lenses degree, its V-Sky™ technology, high-resolution graphics combined with its elegant designs and exhilarating acoustic performance allows users to get seriously creative about entertainment and unleash the fullest potential of their “movie-sunglasses.”
“We are extremely honoured to be recognized by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and to receive this prestigious Innovations Awards,” said Chairman Ong Boon Teck.
“The goal of any product innovation must always remain a positive change, making or improving solutions better than before, in Makani, our aim is to allow consumers a more enriched digital experience while enabling multi-media device manufacturers the opportunity to deliver more sophisticated products.”
Makani’s Zonk™ was first launched in January 2007 in Europe. In June 2007, its availability has been broadened to include many parts of Asia. Makani’s Zonk™ has been well received worldwide especially in countries such as Japan and Taiwan, with its sales volume accelerating rapidly over the year.
"Zonk™ has indeed been a big seller for us, with the current sales results, we are quite confident of exceeding our sales targets for the year,” said Sales Director Nicole Lee.
Makani’s products will be highlighted and displayed throughout the 2008 International CES which runs between Jul 8 to 11 in Las Vegas. The Best of Innovations Showcase will be at Innovations Plus, held at the Sands/Venetian Hotel. The hotel will house the hottest emerging technologies in the electronics industry.
As a widely renowned consumer technology awards program, the International CES 2008 Innovations Awards recognizes the best designed and engineered products. It is sponsored by the CEA, organizer of International CES, the world’s largest consumer technology tradeshow.
Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) also endorsed the event. Known as the voice of industrial design, IDSA is committed to advancing the profession through education, information, community and advocacy.
