Outstanding Staff Wins Award with New Work Philosophy

Makani News is proud to announce that Senior Administrative Officer Goh Bee Yong, has received the Outstanding Employee Recognition Award for the year 2008.
Goh has been with another digital entertainment company for more than ten years before joining Makani last year. Although it has only been a couple of months, she has shown extraordinary leadership in her team and boundless enthusiasm in her work.
In her letter of nomination, colleague Neo Minnie commented that she has not met someone so “professional” in administrative work.
“She is so meticulous that I have never witnessed her making a single mistake so far,” Neo wrote.
In a short session with her direct superior, Manager Aw Yong Chan spoke about how Goh did not use her physical disability as an excuse. “She exceeded what most able-bodied staff did, like working longer hours than the rest of her colleagues,” Manager Aw Yong said.
Goh was born with Muscular Dystrophy, but it did not make her a less successful person during work. She was headhunted by Makani last May because of her previous track records. The team she led won the Most Efficient Team award in her former company for 3 consecutive times.
Intern Allen Walks, joined Makani at the beginning of this year. Holding the common attitude that administrative work would be boring, Allen was dumbfounded by Goh’s passion for her work.
“She did not even claim the 2 days of paid leave that she was awarded for volunteering in the company’s community projects,” Walks said.
In an interview with our newly crowned Outstanding Employee, Goh indicated that she was shocked at the news. She expressed gratitude towards her fellow colleagues, without whom, she would not have been able to complete her tasks on time.
Goh advised employees looking to follow her footsteps to continue to do their best.
Gifted with a charitable and selfless spirit, Goh was known in the company to help out regularly in events organized by the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
She is also often seen volunteering in the Caring Employees Programme, an effort held by the company to urge its employees to teach less privileged children essential computer skills.
The award nominees are judged on performance, teamwork, leadership, volunteerism and comments from nomination letters.
One of the judges, Team Leader Myra Angara, commented that all employees should look upon her as a role model.
“We intend to send her to the reputable Carnell Institute for an advanced course on Business Administration so that she can return to pass on her experience,” Angara expressed.
The Outstanding Employee Recognition Award programme aims to acknowledge and show appreciation to Makani employees who have gone beyond their duties and left a positive impact on the company. Awardees are given a SGD 1000 voucher for the yearly PC Fair at the Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exihibition Centre and a personalized plaque.
